Rusty Surfboard TEC Moby Fish

In 2005, I built my first 4-fin Moby. I had surfed it at around 5 feet and I really loved it. One day, I thought the surf was pretty small, so I took my Moby to Blacks. Nothing else. I was really lucky to have a key. When I arrived down the street, the surf looked like what I had imagined. Pretty small, but clean. I put on my wetsuit, took the Moby out of the back of my truck and closed the tailgate. I looked at the lineup. A solid set of six feet. Fuck! Well, it was the only board I had with me, so I went for it.
On my first wave, I fell thinking that I really had to pull back on the reins. No, the board took off like a bat out of hell. Upwards, there was no end. A few waves later, I was totally convinced by this design and its versatility.
It quickly became very popular; some of my good friends had this board. What was interesting was that their sons, some of the best reef surfers at LJ, tried it and didn’t want to give it back. They ordered duplicates. Not smaller, thinner versions. The same boards. They actually used them on days when it was bigger.
Because of its size, it's a great board for beginners and a good alternative to a longboard. It turns out that it suits all levels and all surfers. The entry rocker is moderate, which helps with paddling. The exit rocker is quite medium, which helps with turning and fitting better into the waves. The fuller outline offers a lot of surface: glide and speed. The rails are fuller but a bit squarer with a lower apex, which gives float and control.
If I had just one board, it would be this one. Pure fun.

Torq Epoxy Composite offers performance shapes in our ultramodern epoxy layup. These boards offer the best balance between lightness and durability. Thanks to our unique lamination process, we are able to use a very strong 6oz and 4oz fiberglass layerup in a three-layer deck and a two-layer skin (with a four-layer rail overlap) with high-density EPS foam, while achieving a board weight equivalent to a light fiberglass layerup.
The result is a lightweight but very stable board with good flex properties and, like all torqs, excellent value for money.
