Founded in 1996 by former University of Maryland soccer player Kevin Plank, Under Armour began in the performance apparel business - gear designed to keep athletes cool, dry and light throughout a game, practice or workout. Under Armour was primarily known for its moisture-wicking T-shirts. In the 20 years since the company was founded in founder and CEO Kevin Plank's grandmother's basement, the company has significantly expanded its product line to include hats, pants, shoes, gloves, bags and more.
